5 DIY Home Projects to Do Before Summer

Living in the Northland, we’re not quite ready to kiss winter goodbye. However, the weather is warming up and technically, spring is right around the corner. As our motivation incrementally increases, now’s the time to consider a few easy DIY projects before summer. These fun and affordable projects will enhance your home’s appearance and give you something to do while the snow melts!

Repaint Your Front Door

Not only can muddy boots take their toll on your doors, but the summer heat and sunshine can take its toll on outdoor finishes. A splash of color can also add a fresh, energetic look to your home for the cost of a gallon of paint. Consider Pohaki’s line of Valspar exterior paint for vibrant color for a mold and stain resistant finish.

Make a Bathroom Storage Ladder

You can build this handy storage ladder easily in one afternoon. Store towels, toiletries, or other necessities. Visit HGTV.com for a complete materials list and the full plan.

NOTE: Don’t worry if you don’t have a circular saw or jigsaw, Pohaki can cut the boards to size for you.

Build a Wall Wine Rack

For the price of a few boards, some stain, and some common woodworking tools you probably already have (or could borrow!) you can make a beautifully stained wine rack for your dining room. Shanty-2-Chic DIY blog offers a complete wine rack plan for you to follow!

Use Old Windows to Display Family Photos

If you’re getting ready to replace your old energy deficient windows, head down to Pohaki Lumber before March 19th and beat the price increase on Marvin & Integrity Windows! But don’t throw away all your old windows: instead, repurpose them to display your family’s photos in a creative, vintage style.

Build a Kitchen Planter Box

A kitchen planter box is not only easy to build but can brighten up your kitchen and allow easy access to fresh herbs! This project is so easy, invite the kids to make one, too. All you need is a few cuts of wood, some wood glue, some finishing nails and few other easily obtained supplies you can get right at Pohaki. Check out the entire plan on the DIY network and get planting!
