Get Your Deck Decked Out {and enjoy summer}!

Some of our loyal Pohaki customers spent the better part of the weekend getting their deck ready for summer, so they can check it off their project list and spend time enjoying everything that our northern Minnesota summers have to offer.

This particular customer had a used a couple different stains in years’ past – less quality stains and didn’t spend much time prepping their surface area before applying a new layer of stain, so they chose to sand down the entire surface area of their 28′ x 14′ deck, in order to provide a clean slate this go ’round. (You can also choose to use a pressure washer with a fan tip to remove/clean old stain.)

Using our Cabot Woodcare deck stain stripper and cleaner to helps with this process, too.

After you’ve prepped your surface area properly (and allowed it to dry), you can start staining with the color/finish of your choice. This particular customer used our Cabot Woodcare semi-solid stain in Mission Brown. The customers have used both semi-transparent and then went to a solid stain, which chipped up after a year of wear. Hence the sanding project to start with (as they prepped the wood). While semi-solid stains provide greater opacity, they still highlight the natural texture of wood and provide a deep-penetrating, flat finish.
